ScriptWise is the first and only non-profit organisation dedicated solely to reducing the number of deaths in Australia from prescription medication misuse. We aim to amplify the voices of those personally affected to see this issue put on the national health agenda.

ScriptWise was founded in response to the emerging and alarming increase in overdose deaths due to prescription medications in Australia. Families across the country, like our Founding Patron Kim Ledger and our Founding Ambassadors Margaret and John Millington, have been losing loved ones at an unprecedented rate to this preventable crisis.

Our mission is to prevent the harms associated

with prescription medications through raising awareness,

community engagement and advocacy.

Currently, more Australians die due to the use of prescription opioids and sedative medications than on our roads.

While vehicle accidents and road deaths continue to decrease, overdose deaths rose by over 60 percent between 2004 and 2014. The increase in overdose deaths is largely due to prescription opioids such as oxycodone and codeine.

These alarming statistics demonstrate the need to address this complex and multifaceted issue.
