Denise “Rustie” Lassam

Ambassador VIC

Rustie was born into a middle class family and had a normal upbringing in the 1960s. However, she had first signs of back pain at age 15 and a back surgery following that.
She eventually fell into opioid and benzodiazepine dependency for almost 30 years. In surviving this, Rustie is a mother, a writer, a belly dancer and most importantly, a volunteer to our organisation.
Rustie has been with ScriptWise since the incorporation of the organisation in November 2014 and hopes to raise better education for general practitioners to understand and treat addiction.
