MEDICATION-ASSISTED TREATMENT FOR OPIOID DEPENDENCE (MATOD)

ScriptWise recently partnered with cohealth to create a video series exploring the importance of medication-assisted treatment for opioid dependence (MATOD). The series seeks to provide information about the practicalities and benefits of providing MATOD and the importance of the shared-care model in optimising patient-outcomes.

Please note that cohealth is a not-for-profit community health organisation operating in Melbourne, Victoria and as such the information provided is based on the Victorian health system.

PROVIDING MATOD

The first video in this series features health professionals and a current MATOD consumer discussing their experience with MATOD. Themes explored include: how MATOD can change patients’ lives, creating strong therapeutic relationships, the financial impact and managing underlying medication conditions.

THE IMPORTANCE OF MATOD

The second video in this series explores the personal stories of Rustie Lassam, a current MATOD consumer, and Rayleen Fagan, who lost her sister to an accidental opioid medication-related overdose. Their stories underscore how MATOD can make an invaluable difference in peoples’ lives.

OPTIMISING TREATMENT FOR OPIOID DEPENDENCE: SHARED CARE

The final video in this series explores the role a range of different health professionals can play in making sure all patients with opioid dependence achieve the best health outcomes possible. Health professionals interviewed include an AOD counsellor, physiotherapist, GP and pharmacist.
