Donna Mangles lost her energetic and beautiful son, Jamie, in 2017 to prescription opioid overdose. Jamie had recently suffered a head injury playing football and had been prescribed opioids by his doctor. He had previously already overcome many years of prescription and other drug dependency. After Jamie passed, Donna promised to continue to make a difference to help others going through the same cycle Jamie had experienced on a daily basis. Donna believes that if through advocating for more public education, prevention initiatives or the implementation of real-time prescription monitoring she can help save one person, it will be worth it. Donna now works for the Salvation Army and is dedicated to helping people with prescription medication and other drug dependence or mental health issues find safe housing.
